co-founder and president
Beth is the co-founder of the North Carolina Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures in Spencer, NC. Beth lost her sister, Amy Dawn Morris, just shy of Amy's 22nd birthday. Amy was a passionate doll collector living with a rare form of spinal muscular atrophy, and dolls gave her a way to escape and play. In Amy's honor, Beth and her mother founded the NC Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures nonprofit museum 12 years ago. Today, Beth is working hard to expand the museum to a new location so she can bring the love, legacy, and history of dolls and toys to more people and foster a sense of community around dolls. Her passion is telling untold stories and uncovering lost doll histories. Most recently, she corresponded with the family of Chinese-Australian dollmaker Ada Lum to learn the history of Ada's remarkable journey from Australia to Shanghai and how she turned her love of dolls into a business while advocating against war. These are the hidden histories that dolls can tell, and Beth loves to tell them.
