Doreen decided to create It's Reuben after the death of her son.  She also shares how her childcare business with her husband also helped to solidify her passion for dolls again and that also created a  desire to create dolls that reflected a lot of the little black and brown boys and girls that were hard to find and still lacking representation in the doll world, while helping to use them to help build self-esteem and enhance their self worth by being represented.
